i like to hit it early, like i’m in a hurry

chromeo turned into a pretty late one on thursday, and i was in work at 10.30 this morning, so i was never going to be able to stay long at sidetracked last night. i did make sure to play some fun tunes though. daire was pretty excited that i was playing a haçienda-style set, though with classixx and missy elliott in there it was never going to be totally mad(chester). daire asked me to make a mix out of these tunes, and, time permitting, i might just do it.

in other news, i went to see let me in yesterday. it’s shot very well, and is quite faithful to the spirit of the book, though i found the instrumental score to be a little bit overwhelming – there are times when a scene just doesn’t need any music. that said, it’s worth a look, though, as is often the case in these situations, the book trumps all.

Saint Etienne – Only Love Can Break Your Heart (Foxbase Beta Version)
Phoenix – Lisztomania (Classixx Version)
Happy Mondays – Hallelujah (Club Mix)
Sueño Latino – Sueño Latino (Original Latin Dream Mix)
Laid Back – White Horse
The Juan MacLean – No Time
Chromeo – Me & My Man (The Juan Maclean Mix)
Michael Jackson – P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing)
Missy Elliott – Lick Shots
ImpLOG – Holland Tunnel Dive (Original 12″ Mix)
LCD Soundsystem – 45:33 (Prince Language Remix)
Yazoo – Situation (Original François Kevorkian 12″ Dub Mix)
FaltyDL – Endeavour
Coldcut – True Skool (Spank Rock BBC Soundsystem Remix)
Mr.Easy – Africa (South Rakkas Crew Remix)

  1. I’m really banking on the A Certain Ratio edition to be a huge hit.
