some animal remixes

synchronicity eh. i got a remix of theo by apples in my inbox today, by an act called zntn. it sounds ace – it’s got a really nice early 90s-type kick that reminds of halcyon, and i think it’s the sort of thing i want to play on the transmission radio show. then i see alex from skull juice retweet goncaloZNTN saying something about another of dude’s remixes. sweet. i had a listen, and like the other, it’s fantastic. it’s a lovely post-punk edit of the diagram brothers. even better, both tracks are on soundcloud. i had a look at his facebook page, and i noticed one friend likes this – tim from the filthy dukes. if that’s not a worthy endorsement, what is?

i’m tired of giving apologieeees. really doe. mad busy. work is getting pretty interesting which is cool. but life is happening. i’ve got a rake of sets coming up, mainly transmission and sidetracked, but i’m also playing orlando’s true stories night next week. i’ve just put together a short hip-hop mix for him, pending his approval it should be available for general consumption in the coming days. alas i must take a step back from blurging over the next few days. please forgive me. i’ll be back by the weekend with new tunes and some dj-friendly tools and tracks. peace out.

you’re doing it wrong!

no style or class, but some rhythm

as usual, playing sidetracked was fun. i always get to play a few tracks i wouldn’t ever have the chance to play anywhere else. even not having a monitor wasn’t too bad. though there was a group of girls in for an 18th or something, who actually started singing telephone mid-set. hmm. so i put on the hercules and love affair remix of bad romance, to zero response. holla! now it’s time to go record a podcast. next stop – the future.

friday gear

fun stuff! things about which to be happy! i never buy any of these tees, but they’re damn cool. and it’s nice to know people out there are making cool tees that don’t just look like everything else – sure, you can buy a marvel tee in pull and bear, or bershka, or even dunnes, but check this out…

and while you’re at it, have a look at this better version of all those scratch/twist/boogie retro type tees you see everywhere.

and while we’re on a lab buzz, go get the morvern callar soundtrack. i read an amazon review (or was it robbed from allmusic?) which pointed out her dude’s lack of sanity which was clear from how he put everything you do is a balloon at the start of a mixtape… what bugged me in the film was how you hear a teeny bit of the intro, and then she stops it! clearly morvern is nuts too…

furthermore…

dublin loves you too…
